Jochen Rindt - icon with hidden depths

September 5, 1970. Austria has lost a national hero. Jochen Rindt is dead. The 1965 Le Mans winner, who made his way from airfield races to Formula 2 to the premier class and was to be posthumously crowned Formula 1 world champion, was a dazzling personality. Born in Germany and growing up in Austria, he knew how to polarize opinions. The book describes the sheltered childhood with his grandparents after losing his parents in the war, the outbreak of puberty, the fast stormy career and the tragic end in Monza - this is the portrait of an icon with hidden depths.

dr Erich Glavitza, journalist, author, racing and stunt driver and, on top of that, a doctorate in philosophy, knew Rindt well and, in his well-known relaxed manner, drew this colorful, insightful and sensitive picture of himself. He describes Rindt's impetuous character and the little-known, completely different relationship with his half-brother, with whom Glavitza spoke for a long time. Finally, Erich Glavitza analyzes in detail the fatal accident involving the filigree Lotus.

This is the comprehensive standard work on Jochen Rindt, richly illustrated with private and racing photos, some of which have never been shown, for example by Alois Rottensteiner, who was also close to Rindt and the rest of the scene. With a foreword by Bernie Ecclestone.

On the 50th anniversary of the racing driver's death, McKlein is presenting this 400-page, large-format biography in an elegant design and in a slipcase.
