As a child, Sepp caught rally fever on his way to school. The Semperit Rallye, the 1000 Minute Rallye or the Alpenfahrt, which raced through the Waldviertel more or less right in front of his front door, helped Sepp get hooked on the needle early on: that's exactly what he wanted to do one day - exactly that!

Having tried almost everything in motorsport in his early years, it was clear to him in 1980 that his focus would be on rallying, which he really enjoyed (and still enjoys). The great attraction for him was taking part in really long rallies. As early as 1986 he drove the CanAMex Rally with Hans Geist in an Escort XR3i, 23,000 km through Canada, the USA and Mexico. In 1988 he ventured to Paris-Dakar, but the two-wheel drive Escort was not the ideal vehicle for it.

In this book, Josef Pointinger unpacks the diaries and more than 250 photos of his adventures and excitingly describes every single day of the following rallies with the Ford Escort Mk1:
